I have never been much for new year resolutions?  How about you? 

What I am big on now is setting goals and Intentions – and for me there is no better time than the beginning of a fresh new year to set your Intentions to create your life the way you truly want it to be.

Would you agree?

As I sit here writing to you I am tucked away in a fabulous log home in the North Carolina Mountains where we are vacationing for two weeks. I am surrounded by trees and mountain views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

I can’t think of a better place to get clear about what I want for 2008.

In 2007 my goal was to replace my husband’s income.  I have done that and now my goal is to double or triple that income in 2008.

Why?  So that we can have the freedom to do whatever we want whenever we want with the ability to help as many people as possible.

So how do you get what you want in 2008?

I believe it is by a combination of getting clear about what you want, ASKing, and detaching from the outcome… surrending to a power that is greater than you.

This is my affirmation which you are welcome to borrow:

“I surrender to a power that is greater than me – that lives within me – who can deliver more good to me in more ways than I can ever imagine for myself.

For me, it means asking for what I want, surrending to the power greater than me to deliver more good than I can imagine for myself…AND being open to receiving… ALLOWing my good to flow to me in perfect and Divine timing.

You may have seen in my signature, “Living in Divine inspiration.”

It means exactly that… opening myself to the Divine inspiration that flows through me when I allow it… and I AM allowing it.

Creating what I want is getting easier and easier for me as I let go… and allow.

Hello dear friends,

I am sitting here simply bursting with Joy and Gratitude and here is why…

In September of this year, through a perfectly serendipitous series of events, my husband and I purchased 6 acres of land in the North Carolina mountains in the exact spot we had discussed living a few months earlier.  We expressed our desire to live in the area and we let it go… and everything fell in place and led us directly to the land we purchased.

For Christmas this year we decided to rent a log cabin in the NC mountains near our land where we are going to build a log home in 2008.

My family was here to celebrate Christmas with us and we all enjoyed the cabin.

As I sit here now in this log cabin I am filled with joy and gratitude for the beauty surrounding me both inside the cabin and outside.

At this moment it is raining and I can see the rain through the windows and on the skylights in the ceiling.

There is a beautiful stone fireplace still decorated with beautiful greenery and white Christmas lights.  Peaceful dulcimer music is playing softly. 

My husband Dennis is napping and my two chihuahuas are sleeping peacefully.

From my recliner where I am sitting I see mountains in the distance with clouds swirling around them.  We are higher than the clouds.  Wow!

I also see lots of trees and a few other log homes in the distance.

I pretend I live here – that I am in my log home which will be built in 2008.  I FEEL what it feels like to BE in MY new log home.

On the inside I see beautiful log walls and rustic furniture made from tree limbs and vines, a relaxing day bed by the window, a large comfortable rocking chair, tables and desks, and a perfectly appointed and modern kitchen with a convenient bar.

I see ducks and geese and bears resting on the fireplce mantle and hearth.

How old do you think we are?

I mean we – all of mankind. Do you think that mankind is in its early stages? Do you think that perhaps mankind has reached middle age and from here on its going to be decline and further decline? Or, do you believe that mankind is approaching the end, and that within a short time mankind will be no more upon the face of the earth, or out in the galaxies?

Personally, I think that the human race is only just now coming out of its earliest babyhood, the greatest lies ahead of us. Today, mankind is like a child of twelve or thirteen years of age in the Cosmic Universe.

Scientists estimate that man has been on the earth a million years; and that’s conservative. He’s been here much longer than that and civilizations have existed for tens of thousands of those years. Most of those civilizations, now forgotten, and their remnants are buried underneath the oceans, or under the desert, underneath mountain, or great mounds. Yet notwithstanding all this – early antecedents – the human race is only now in its earliest childhood.

The greatest days of mankind lie before us. All the really great achievements of the human race are still unborn. Music of the future will surpass even the greatest names today. Beethoven, Mozart and Bach will be surpassed, just as they, in their day, surpassed the beating of crude, native drums.

Literature will be produced that will make the works of Shakespeare, Milton and the other great lights of our civilization look like children’s story telling.

In art, the art of ancient Greece, never equaled since, will be overtaken and surpassed by new waves of spiritual inspiration expressing through the art of mankind.

The greatest engineering feats of today: bridges and dams, airplanes, electronics and atomics will be like toys compared to the engineering that is yet to come in the future of mankind.

Above all, man’s understanding of himself: man’s understanding of his spiritual nature and of his spiritual world will grow by fantastic proportions. The religious geniuses of the past will be as pygmies compared with the spiritual leaders of the future. Probably the greatest advance of man will be the tapping of the vast reservoirs of strength, courage and wisdom, which he has never before touched.

So don’t worry about the future of mankind. Turn your own eyes toward your future, for the best is yet to be.

Do you like pretty packages? Most of us do.

I had an interesting thought about pretty packages when I stopped in at one of the very beautiful department stores while I was travelling. I was looking at some merchandise and at the next counter there was a lady looking for a special kind of fancy soap. It was not the kind that one buys normally for one’s own use, which comes three bars to the package and is a very ordinary soap, but each bar is wrapped in transparent paper to make it a tight and shiny fit.

Then these little boxes sit in a cardboard tray and that too is wrapped in a colored transparent covering. Then there was a beautiful paper ribbon and a tiny bunch of imitation violets. Quite a package just for three humble cakes of soap intended to get you clean.

Then I had the shock of my life when the lady serving at the counter smiled very sweetly and asked the woman customer a question that just threw me over.

She asked, “Would you like me to gift wrap it for you?”

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Isn’t this just like so many things in our own lives? Here is the soap, perfectly normal, useful soap that becomes wrapped around so many times that we begin to lose sight of the original objective. The original objective in this package was to provide soap with which to clean ourselves. Yet by the time we had it wrapped and wrapped and overwrapped, the original soap becomes completely lost in the issue.

I was out the door on a December holiday evening at 6:00 PM. I had planned on doing some writing but my son called. Many people in San Antonio, Texas complain about the traffic.
