Today is the day after Valentine’s Day. I had a prompting to send out message of love yesterday morning, so I composed a short message (see below) and sent it out to newsletter subscribers and posted it to my online community forums and networks. The response was unexpected and very much appreciated.

I received emails from many people who said they received my message at just the moment when they needed it the most. They said I made their day. Wow!

One woman called me and through tears told me that she was grateful for my message because she is going through a difficult divorce and was feeling at a low point in her life. My simple message of love lifted her up and let her know that she is loved for exactly who she is.

In case you missed my message yesterday, you will find it again below. It is not just for Valentine’s Day. It is for any day.

February is a month of mixed emotions for me. My husband of almost eight years now proposed to me on Valentine’s Day, 1998 and we were married in April of that same year. Many of you know that I met Dennis on the internet and moved 800 miles to marry him. He is an angel (really!) and I am grateful to have him in my life.

That is the good part of February that I enjoy.

On February 22, 2003 my son Brian passed over. Of course, that is a tough time of the year for me to experience each year. However, I know that my son is eternal and that he is guiding me now to be of service to others both with my experience as a mother and also as a teacher of the spiritual principles I have been studying for many years.

3. NEW YEAR SOLUTIONS (INSTEAD OF RESOLUTIONS)
========

My New Year’s Solutions

Happy New Year to everyone! I heard the other day that by now, studies have shown that most people have broken their New Year’s Resolutions!

That shocked me at first and then I took stock of the all the resolutions I have made over the last several years and I found that this was indeed true for me too.

Now this year I did something different, I decided that I wouldn’t make any “Resolutions” none, zippo, zero… and at first I felt bad about it.

Giving it more thought I decided what I really needed are “solutions” not “resolutions” that will fade away.

For instance my solution to becoming healthier is daily exercise and juicing fresh fruits and veggies 1x per day.

Even if I can only do 15 minutes of exercise per day it’s better than wanting to do an hour and skipping it because I don’t have time for the full hour.

My solution for strengthening my marriage is to find at least one kind word, or way to show my wife how much I appreciate her every day.

My solution for a better family is finding ways to play together like we used to when the kids were younger.

The games have changed but the time together is what’s important.

While these may sound like “Resolutions” I find that calling them “My Solutions” feels better and I am committed to making them a part of my daily habits.

One of my challenges in the past was my goals/resolutions were so huge, so far away that after a short while of effort I would become discouraged and down for not reaching them. (Yes, even Mr. Positive can get discouraged at times, it happens)

This year “my solutions” are all small, doable steps I can take daily action on…stay tuned and you’ll here how it turns out next year!

I offer this here as inspiration to all of you who may need it and if you have any suggestions that might be helpful to me or others feel free to pass them on.

5. FEAR OF THE PHONE MARKETING TIPS
========

Fear of the telephone is a common problem felt by most people who are marketing a business by phone. It was a problem for me too until I learned that I can be in control of how I feel when I make those calls – and I can be in control of who answers the phone (more on that later).

Here is what I learned and what I can share with you to hopefully shorten your learning curve when it comes to picking up the phone to call those prospects for your business:

Determine the type of person you want to invite to join your business.

Make a written list of the characterstics of your ideal business partner. What kind of person do you want to work with? Here are some suggested qualities:

Motivated – They have a reason to build a new business.
Qualified – They have money to get started.
Personable – You will enjoy working with them.
Available – They will make time to participate.
Experienced – They have home business expertise.

List other qualities you require in a business partner.

Keep in mind that you are going to attract the type of person you are expecting to attract. You really want to attract individuals who are better and more qualified at business than you. In other words, recuit UP. That will give you people who are qualified to help you expand your business – and it’s a great thing when you can also learn from your new business associates.

Once you have your list of qualifications and characteristics, keep that list on your desk and review it before you make each phone call.

Create an Affirmation to describe who you want to answer the phone.

Yes, I said you can decide who answers the phone.

Try an Affirmation like this:

“It is my Intention that ONLY strong qualified leaders who are interested in my products and services and who WANT to talk to me will answer their phone.”

Or something like this:

“I only talk to people who want to talk to me.”

Wow! That means that you don’t even want those who have no interest to answer the phone! Yes!

Wouldn’t you rather talk to fewer people who are more qualified than more people who are less qualified? Of course!

Here is another Affirmation you can use:

“It is my Intention to easily and effortlessly attract to me strong qualified leaders who are looking for what I have to offer, who are motivated and ready to make a decision to join my business today.”

How good does that feel?

Remember that you are looking for people that you want to work with long term to expand your business together. You get to decide who joins you in your business. How wonderful is that?

You can use these same techniques to attract Customers, too. Just re-word the affirmations to include characteristics of qualified customers.

“It is my Intention to easily and effortlessly attract to me people who see value in the products and services I offer, who are motivated and ready to make a decision to get started today.”

While you are learning to attract the perfect business partners and customers, if you speak to someone and they sound unmotivated and “lazy,” LET THEM GO. Move on. Imagine how it will feel to be working with an unmotivated business partner for the next 10 years. Not!

Remember, too, that a phone is just a phone. You can hang it up the same way you picked it up. You don’t have to talk to anyone that makes you uncomfortable. You are in control. You get to choose.

So, make your list, write your Affirmations and review them each time you get ready to start making phone calls.
